Get ready to explore Rome like never before. Professor, author and historian Thomas Madden, PhD, will be with us providing daily lectures about the history of this magnificent city. Part of each day is spent on guided tours and the remainder is left to explore on your own.
Rome is where Professor Madden’s new book lands hardest. The Fall of Republics opens with the Roman Republic, and Rome is where you can stand on the ground where that republic ran. He walks you through the layers, from the early Republic through the empire and into medieval Rome.
His Crusades scholarship matters here too. Rome was the seat from which the calls to crusade went out, and the city carries that history in its churches and its walls.
